I had been thinking about getting some sort of peg-pounding device for some time and figured approaching 2 years old was probably a good time - especially since my son is currently intent on fixing everything. He loves pounding on things and listening to the different sounds different things make when hit with the hammer. He loves his toy. I like solid, wooden toys when I can find them. I don't like buying toys with a lot of pieces but this pounding bench was made so that the pegs could not be pounded out. Instead, the pegs on the left were connected to the pegs on the right so when you pound one peg and it goes down, the other side comes up. Genius! I love the 3 in one toy. The numbers 0-9 are easy movable and are nicely colored very easy for little hands to move them around.
Our daughter loves these! They're so bright and colorful and the perfect size for her hands to hold.
I really like this stacking toy for my daughter. She enjoys playing with it and gets better at it over time. I like that it is wood instead of plastic.
I will say that the wooden dowels that you stack the blocks on can pose a risk when there are no blocks on them. But only on the floor. I initially put it on the floor and played with my toddler, but quickly realized that with the 3 dowels sticking up, if my toddler fell on it while playing then they could get hurt. However, I just now play on the table and make sure she doesn't put it on the floor. So I am not taking off any stars, just noting as an observation for other parents.
Ealingtoys are always great quality and this piece is no different. The wood is solid, smooth, and well painted. The square pieces are two parts that interlock, making them quite challenging. The round and octagonal pieces are more traditional. My 2 year old doesn't quite get the order and shapes perfectly yet, but enjoys building some very abstract towers from them. As she grows I suspect she'll grow to learn to do them, with the squares probably taking some time to get right, so it has growth potential. Nice quality, safe product.
